#31 Bluefield State defeats Tusculum 6-3 in non-conference match

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Bluefield State defeated Tusculum 6-3 in non-conference men's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The 31st-ranked Big Blues (12-2) won two out of three in doubles and four out of six in singles to claim their fourth straight victory, while the Pioneers (10-9) lost to a ranked opponent for the fourth time this season.

Tusculum's doubles victory came at flight three, where Yago Fernandez and Tashique Kader teamed up for an 8-4 win over Giorgi Datashvili and Guillermo Lopez. In singles, David Siegle beat Luca Ockernahl 4-6, 6-4, (10-8) at flight four, while Fabian Paier downed Lopez 6-0, 6-3 at flight six.

The Pioneers will resume conference play on Sunday at 2 p.m. with a match on the road against 42nd-ranked Wingate.
