18th-ranked North Georgia defeats Tusculum

DAHLONEGA, Ga. --- Tusculum College lost 9-0 to 18th-ranked University of North Georgia in non-conference men's tennis action Friday afternoon.

The Nighthawks (4-0) needed tiebreakers to win two of the singles matches against the Pioneers (4-2), as Yago Fernandez took the first set from Hugues Renaud 7-6 (7-4) at flight three before Renaud leveled the match with a 6-2 win in the second set at flight three. In the tiebreaker, Renaud edged Fernandez 10-8 to capture the match victory.

At flight six, Eduardo Munoz defeated Jared Bones 6-4 in the first set and lost the second set 6-1, before Munoz fell to Bones 10-4 in the tiebreaker.

In doubles action, the team of Tashique Kader and Leon Seiz extended Andre Canino and Lukas Moritzen at flight two before the Nighthawk duo came away with a 9-7 win.

Tusculum will be on the road next Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brevard in a South Atlantic Conference match against the Tornados.
