TUSCULUM MEN'S TENNIS WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT, PIONEERS BEAT BOBCATS 7-2


GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 36 Tusculum College men's tennis team won its fifth straight match as the Pioneers defeated visiting Lees-McRae College 7-2 Friday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Pioneers improve to 10-1 on the season, while the Bobcats even their record to 7-7 on the year.

Tusculum swept the three doubles points, including an 8-0 pro set win by the No. 3 pairing of Hunter Beal and Nicolas Bigler over Travis Vanhoy and Paul Muenow.

In singles action, Lees-McRae won the top two flights as Nandor Solymosi won 6-2, 6-2 over Bigler at No. 1 singles. Shaun Sumner also posted a point for the Bobcats with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Sergio Espinosa. Carlos Garcia captured an important point for Tusculum as he outlasted Alek Mojski in a three-set thriller, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.

Henrique Rodrigues, Leo Guaycurus and Beal each posted singles wins to close out the match.

Tusculum returns to action on Wednesday when TC travels to Carson-Newman College for an important South Atlantic Conference match.
