Pioneers gain two spots to eighth in Southeast Region poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The Tusculum University men's soccer team gained two positions to eighth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Southeast Region rankings, through games of Oct. 8.

The Pioneers (5-3-3) played to a pair of draws last week, tying Anderson 0-0 on the road on Wednesday and Limestone 1-1 on Saturday. Limestone entered the game as the top-ranked team in the region and ranked fourth nationally.

Clayton State (9-1-0) moved into the top spot in the Southeast Region, followed by Wingate (7-3-1) up three spots to second. Limestone (7-1-2) fell from first to third, with Coker (5-2-3) maintaining fourth place and Catawba (7-2-1) dropping from third to fifth.

Lincoln Memorial (7-2-2) gained two spots to sixth in the region, with Francis Marion (5-1-4) falling one notch to seventh and Tusculum in eighth. Entering the rankings this week are Chowan (4-3-2) in ninth and Young Harris (7-2-2) in 10th.

The Pioneers host Emory & Henry on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Pioneer Field, then travel to Newberry on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in South Atlantic Conference matches this week.
