Devens honored as AstroTurf SAC Offensive Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University senior forward Henrique Devens has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 27, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Devens became the first Pioneer since 2009 to score a hat trick as the Pioneers defeated Coker 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Field. The Aracruz, Brazil native scored in the 21st, 62nd and 77th minute for the first three-goal game by a Pioneer since Anteneh Lemma in 2009. Devens also assisted on a goal by Nikola Vujicic in the 83rd minute to become the first Tusculum player with three goals and an assist in a single game since Bruno Conceicao in 2007.

With his outburst against Coker, Devens now leads the SAC in goals in conference-only matches with six and in points with 16. Overall, Devens is third in the conference in both goals (eight) and points (21).

The Pioneers (5-6-2, 4-3-1 SAC) will play at Mars Hill on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
