NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum midfielder Edgar Cervantes has been named the College Men's Soccer Player of the Week as selected by the Tennessee Sportswriters Association (TSWA).

Cervantes, a freshman from Cancun, Mexico, scored three goals and added an assist as the Pioneers picked up a win and a draw last week to stay in the thick of the South Atlantic Conference playoff race.

Cervantes scored in the sixth minute and assisted on another first half goal in a 2-2 draw with Carson-Newman last Wednesday.  He then scored in the fifth and 24th minutes of a 3-1 win at Catawba on Saturday.  For his efforts, Cervantes was also named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week.

Tusculum (2-6-6) returns to action on Wednesday when they host Lee University for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest at Pioneer Field.
