SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Pablo Laguna's goal in the 75th minute proved to be the only offense of the night in Tusculum's 1-0 South Atlantic Conference victory over Newberry Friday night at the Upward Star Center.

Tusculum (5-3-1, 2-1-1 SAC) halts a three-match winless streak and is slated to return to action on Wednesday against Brevard.

Laguna's goal, his second of the year, came at the 74:53 mark of the match, which was assisted by Andre De Giorgi for his team-leading third helper of the year.

Dillon Pelton's header with 28 seconds left in the contest was stopped by Tusculum keeper Jorge Alvarez to preserve the victory and his fourth shutout of the season.

Tusculum held a 14-7 advantage in shots, but the margin was tied at 4-4 in shots on goal.

Alvarez accounted for four saves on the evening, while Newberry goalkeeper Brad Dixon finished with three saves in the loss.
