GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Anderson University goalkeeper Devon Ashy finished the night with six saves, including two match-savers in the second half as the Trojans held on for a 1-0 South Atlantic Conference men's soccer victory at Tusculum College Saturday night at Pioneer Field.

The lone goal of the match came early in the contest as Erik Bahlbeck headed in a loose ball while battling with TC goalkeeper Ashley Elsey in the 14th minute.

That goal sparked the Trojans, who out-shot the Pioneers by a 9-5 margin in the open half. Tusculum answered by out-shooting the visitors 11-9 in the second period, while getting off some outstanding shots but was turned away by Ashy.

Tusculum's Tyler Linkous got off a great shot in the 73rd minute as a crossing pass found him on the left side as his shot was heading to the open corner to the near post, but Ashy made a diving save deflecting the shot away.

The next great TC opportunity came in the 76th minute as Guillermo Lazcano's free kick from 25 yards out when through the wall towards the near left post. Ashy once against dove to his right and tipped the would-be equalizer away.

Anderson finished the match with an 18-16 advantage in shots and 8-6 on corner kicks.

Elsey was starting in goal for Tusculum Jorge Alvarez, who was serving a red-card suspension from Wednesday's match with Lincoln Memorial. Elsey went the distance as he posted eight saves on the night, including several critical saves to keep the contest at a one-goal differential.

Tusculum returns to action on Wednesday night as the Pioneers travel to Misenheimer, North Carolina to face Pfeiffer University for a 7 p.m. match.
