Kody Te Kanawa was named as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Tusculum College in August 2015.

Te Kanawa brings extensive playing and coaching experience to Tusculum, both in the indoor and outdoor games. He most recently served as the head junior varsity boys lacrosse coach at Mattituck (New York) High School during the 2016 season, where he led the team to an 11-2 record. He was also assistant coach for the varsity team, which went 11-4 and finished as the Suffolk County championship runner-up.

A native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Te Kanawa was a three-year starter for the men's lacrosse team at Dowling College in Oakdale, New York, where he played from 2011 to 2015. During his time at Dowling, the Golden Lions won the 2012 NCAA Division II championship and captured the East Coast Conference title in 2014.

Te Kanawa began playing box lacrosse in sixth grade, and won three provincial championships as a member of the Coquitlam Adanacs Junior A club team and played in the national Minto Cup tournament. In high school, Te Kanawa enrolled at Blue Ridge School in St. George, Virginia and was a two-year team captain and All-Conference and All-State selection both as a junior and senior.

While completing his degree at Dowling, Te Kanawa was involved with the club lacrosse program for Mama's Boyz in Suffolk County, an organization that gives boys and girls the chance to play lacrosse while raising awareness and funds for breast cancer awareness. At Mama's Boyz, he served as defensive coordinator, and later was head coach for the fourth grade team and assistant coach for the ninth grade team. Te Kanawa was also the program director and head coach for the Mama's Boyz box lacrosse program.

Other experience for Te Kanawa includes instructor for the Yale Bulldog Box Lacrosse Camp during the winter of 2015-16, and assistant travel coach and defensive clinic coach for Havoc Dune Dogs Lacrosse in Suffolk County from May, 2013 to December, 2014.

Te Kanawa has been involved in numerous volunteer and charity activities, including the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Keep Islip Clean along with walks for breast cancer and suicide awareness. He graduated from Dowling in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social sciences with a minor in secondary education.
