LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Tusculum University senior midfielder AJ Hems has been selected to the D2 Team of the Week, as chosen by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Hems scored a career-high five goals as the Pioneers defeated Barton 14-8 in their season opener Saturday afternoon. Hems scored four times in the first half as the Pioneers built a 6-3 halftime lead, and scored his five goals on seven shot attempts.
The Laurens, South Carolina product has 18 goals and four assists for 22 points in 15 games with the Pioneers, spanning two seasons.
The USILA selects its 10-member Team of the Week each week during the season, giving recognition for exceptional performances as nominated by their respective institutions.
The Pioneers (1-0) will face top-ranked Limestone on Friday at 7 p.m. at Saints Field in Gaffney, South Carolina.
