GREENWOOD, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team carded a 54-hole total 859 and finished 10th at the 2024 Bearcat Classic, which was held at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.
The Pioneers posted rounds of 282, 291 and a final round 286 as the five-under par 859 total is the second-best 54-hole score in school history.
Grand Valley State (No. 4 in NCAA II) and host Lander (No. 12 in NCAA II) each posted a sizzling 36-under par total 828. Grand Valley claimed the team tournament title in a playoff.
Flagler was third with 836, followed by 21st-ranked Barton (838), Wingate (843), Findlay (846), Lenoir-Rhyne (851), Belmont Abbey (852), Limestone (855) and Tusculum (859) to round out the top-10. West Georgia finished 11th with 860, followed by Indianapolis (864), King (870), Anderson (874), Erskine (876), Newberry (877), Emmanuel (882), Georgia College (898), Young Harris (900) and North Greenville (907).
Grand Valley's Drew Coble captured medalist honors with a 13-under par total of 203 including 67 on Tuesday. Coble won by one shot over runner-up Linus Jonsson of Lander (67-69-68=204).
Tusculum senior Blake Williams led the Pioneers with his six-under par score of 210 which included a one-under 71 in the final round. His 210 tally is a career-low and tied for the eighth-best 54-hole total in the TU record book.
Dominic Barron Holden finished 31st with 69-70-74=213 (-3), Isak Holter placed 57th with 73-77-69=219, Morgan Cain tied for 63rd with 77-72-72=221 and Marinus Jeebe finished 99th with 73-80-77=230.
The Pioneers return to action in two weeks (Mar. 18-19) when they travel to the Hargett Memorial in Monroe, North Carolina.
