MORRISTOWN, Tenn. --- Tusculum's Riley Brown posted a one-under par 71 and is tied for first place after the first round of the 2022 Walters State Fall Classic. The two-day, 36-hole event is being held at the par-72, 7,065-yard Country Club of Morristown.
Tusculum is fielding two teams (B & C teams) at this week's tournament as 11 Pioneers are competing in this event.
Host Walters State has the team lead with 293, three shots ahead of Roane State (296). Carson-Newman B is third with 305, while Spartanburg Methodist and Cleveland State are tied for fourth with 310. Tusculum B is sixth with 312, followed by Belmont Abbey C (317), Tusculum C (321) and Mars Hill (337).
Brown is locked in a five-way tie for first place including the Walters State duo of Sawyer Spoone and Ashton Pratt. Carson-Newman's Steven Haremski and Cleveland State's Dalton Sutton are also tied for first.
Liam Hermansson leads the Tusculum B team with his 78, good enough for 20th place so far. Isak Holter and Hunter Hartman each shot 80 and are tied for 23rd. Elvis Steen is 33rd with 83, while Liam Colohan shot 84 and is tied for 39th place to wrap up the scoring for Tusculum B.
Brown's 71 paced the Tusculum C squad. Lawson Harkey posted a 75 and is in ninth place, while Blake Williams and Cole Haygood each shot 83 and are tied for 33rd. Jordan Williams carded an 86 to tie for 44th and David Zuska, playing as an individual competitor, finished with 90 (T50th).
The final 18 holes will be contested on Tuesday.
