Pioneers in 16th place after day one of Tennessee River Rumble

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team carded a 36-hole total 599 and are in 16th place after day one of the 2021 Tennessee River Rumble. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Lincoln Memorial University and held at the Wind River Golf Course.

Tusculum opened with a 299 in Monday's opening round and followed with 300 in the afternoon scoring. Dominic Barron Holden leads the way for TU with his 72-74=146 where he is tied for 32nd place. Liam van Deventer, the winner of last week's Tusculum Invitational, shot 76-72=148 on Monday and is 44thNicholas Marchese is 63rd with 74-77=151, while Derek Mubarak is 81st with 77-79=156. Kyle Engelbert is 84th with his 80-77=157.

Young Harris leads the way in the team competition after 36 holes with 563 (-13) and has a six-shot lead over second place Anderson (569, -7).  Wingate is third with 571 (-5) followed by host Lincoln Memorial (574). Queens and North Greenville are tied for fifth place with an even-par 576, while North Georgia is seventh with 577. Belmont Abbey is eighth with 579, followed by Newberry (582), Barton (582), Carson-Newman (583), Erskine (586), LMU B-Team (588), Southern Wesleyan (592), Lenoir-Rhyne (595), Tusculum (599), King (606) and Walters State (616).

Wingate's Charles Joubert leads the charge for the individual medal after shooting a school record 10-under par 65-69=134 and leads by three strokes over Austin Duncan of North Greenville (73-64=137).

Tuesday's final 18 holes will be played on the par-72, 7,018-yard layout.
