ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team is currently in 18th place at the 2020 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 7,136-yard St. Johns Golf & Country Club.
The Pioneers opened the day with a first round team score of 312 and followed with a 323 for their 36-hole total 635 (+59). TU has completed the day, but four competitors were still on the golf course when play was suspended due to darkness. Play will resume on Tuesday as players complete their respective rounds and will move into the final 18 holes.
Lincoln Memorial is in the lead with its 36-hole total 598 and leads second-place Barry by one shot (599). Wingate is one of four teams with a competitor on the course as the Bulldogs are in third place at +24. Flagler is fourth with 602, followed by Queens (603) and Belmont Abbey (606 +30). North Greenville is seventh at +31, while Barton and King (608) are in eighth place at +32. Carson-Newman is 10th with +36, followed by Coker (620), Southern Wesleyan (621), Christian Brothers (624), Catawba (624), Tampa (625), Anderson (625), Hillsdale (628), Tusculum (635), Emmanuel (688) and Albany State (728).
North Greenville's Evan Lewis is the lone player in the field at under par with -1 and leads the tournament with one hole remaining on his round. Anderson's Jake Miller is the clubhouse leader at even par with 70-74=144.
Nicholas Marchese and Jeffery Perez are tied for 50th place after finishing with 155. Noah Jones is third on the team and 69th in the tournament with 160. Kyle Engelbert is 82nd with 165, while Mark Healy is 84th with 166.
The final round will begin on Tuesday following the conclusion of second round play.
