Men's Golf finishes ninth at State Farm Intercollegiate

TAZEWELL, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team finished ninth at the 2019 State Farm Intercollegiate which was held at Woodlake Golf Club and hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.

The Pioneers finished with a two-day, 54-hole total 912 including Tuesday's final round tally of 307 on the par-72, 6,746-yard layout.

Host LMU led wire-to-wire to capture the team championship with a 16-under par total 848 including a final round 283.  The Railsplitters were five strokes clear of runner-up Newberry who finished with 853 (-11).  Queens University of Charlotte finished third with 860 (-4), followed by Coker University (874), LMU B (884), Catawba College (892), Lenoir-Rhyne University (900), Walters State (904), Tusculum (904), LMU C (933), Virginia-Wise (949) and Roane State Community College (979).

LMU's Dan Bradbury led wire-to-wire to capture medalist honors with a three-round total 207, two shots ahead of runner of Ollie Smith of Queens (209).

Tusculum's Mark Healy finished with 72-74-77=223 to tie for 24^th place as the Pioneers' top-finisher.  Kyle Engelbert shot 76-77-75=228 to tie for 36^th place, while Noah Jones posted 75-79-75=229 to tie for 39^th.  Jeffery Perez tied for 45^th with 78-75-80=233, while Bennett Noe carded 77-79-80=236 to finish 52^nd.

Liam Sweeney, playing as an individual competitor, was the low-man of the day for the Pioneers as he shot 73 to finish with 228 for 36^th place honors. Marko Jokic also played as an individual and finished 48^th with 77-81-76=234.

Tusculum will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule next week (Oct. 14-15) at the Walters State Classic at the Country Club of Morristown.
