Pioneers shoot 293 to finish 12th at Tennessee River Rumble

LOUDON, Tenn. --- Tusculum University freshman Kyle Engelbert shot a one-under par 71 in the final round of the Tennessee River Rumble Tuesday at the Wind River Golf Course.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 293 to finish with a two-day tally of 607 as TU climbed three spots up the leaderboard to finish in a three-way tie for 12th place.  Tusculum trimmed 21 strokes off its opening round tally (314).

Engelbert finished his round with five birdies and four bogeys as he finished with a 36-hole total 150 to tie for 31st place.

Host Lincoln Memorial led wire-to-wire as the Railsplitters shot 580 to win by five shots over runner-up Carson-Newman (585).  Young Harris finished third with 587, followed by Queens University of Charlotte (588), King (590), North Georgia (595), Wingate (596), Southern Wesleyan (600), Barton (602), Northwestern Ohio (604), North Greenville (605), Tusculum (607), Belmont Abbey (607), Coker (607), Lenoir-Rhyne (608), West Georgia (611), Catawba (622), Mars Hill (627), LMU B (628) and Bryan College (661).

LMU's Harry Boyle shot a six-under par 66 to win the individual medal by four shots over Robert Wilkinson of LMU (70-69=139).

TU's Jeffery Perez and Liam Sweeney both tied for 55th place at 154.  Perez shot 78 and Sweeney carded a 77 in Tuesday's final round.  Matt DiBella finished 61st with 155 including a final round 73 (+1).  Noah Jones tied for 73rd place as he shaved 13 shots off of his first round score as he shot even par on Tuesday to post a two-day score of 157.

Tusculum returns to action Apr. 14-16 when the Pioneers compete at the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Championship in Camden, South Carolina.  This will be Tusculum's 20th SAC Tournament the Pioneers have competed in.
