Jones cards top-10 finish, Pioneers tie for seventh in Battle at Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --- Tusculum University freshman Noah Jones carded a one-under par round of 71 to post a two-day score of 147 to finish tied for seventh place at The Battle at Hilton Head.

Tusculum tied for seventh in the team competition with a 36-hole total of 606 including Tuesday's 305 in the final round.

Jones posted a very tidy round as he opened with three birdies in his first four holes and finished with just two bogeys and 13 pars for his first top-10 performance of the season.

Lincoln Memorial won the team championship as the Railsplitters finished with 579, winning the crown by a single stroke over runner-up Henderson State (580).  King University finished third with 594, followed by Southern Wesleyan (595), Barton (598), Lenoir-Rhyne (604), Tusculum (606), Rogers State (606), Embry-Riddle (610), Roberts Wesleyan (617), Oklahoma Baptist (628), Fairmont State (664) and Virginia State (708).

LMU's Sam Broadhurst claimed the individual medal as he led wire-to-wire shooting 13-under par (131) including a 66 (-6) in the final round.  He won by 10 shots over co-runner-ups, Edwin Blomander (Rogers State) and Bryson Boyette (Barton).

TU's Kyle Engelbert shot a 79 on Tuesday to post a 151 and tie for 26th place.  Sophomore Liam Sweeney finished 33rd with 76-77=153, while Matt DiBella finished 45th with 78-78=156.  Jeffrey Perez rounded out the team scoring for the Pioneers with his 77-81=158 to finish 52nd.

The Pioneers return to action on Mar. 11-12 when they travel to Memphis, Tennessee for the Buccaneer Spring Classic.
