Bevacqua, Pioneers in second after day one of Walters State Fall Classic

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. --- Tusculum University freshman Mike Bevacqua carded an opening round 73 in his collegiate debut and is one shot out of the lead at the 2018 Walters State Fall Classic, which is being held at The Country Club of Morristown.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 301 and are in second place, four strokes behind day one leader and tournament host Walters State who shot 297.  Carson-Newman B is third with third with 309, followed by Belmont Abbey B (320), Spartanburg Methodist (322), Carson-Newman C (323), Abraham Baldwin College (32), Union College (331), Roane State (358) and Bluefield State (375).

Leading the individual competition is Will Collins of Carson-Newman B who posted an even par tally of 72 and leads by one over Bevacqua and Walters State's Drew Linkous.

Tusculum's Noah Jones is in a four-way tie for fifth place with 75, while TU rookie Kyle Engelbert shot 76 and is tied for ninth.  Liam Sweeney and Matt DiBella are tied for 14th place with 77.

The final round will be play on the par-72, 7,055-yard layout on Tuesday.
