Pioneers complete final round at Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. --- Tusculum's David Whinery carded his third consecutive 75 to finish with a tournament total 225 to finish 53rd at the 2018 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate.  The two-day, 54-hole event was held at the Fleming Island Golf Club.                         

The Pioneers completed their second round on Tuesday morning, posting a team score of 300. TC followed by shooting 312 in the final round to finish the tournament with 920 and finish in 16th place.

Lincoln Memorial and Young Harris finished in a tie for first place honors with 856.  LMU won the team title on a scorecard playoff.  Lander shot 861 to finish third, while Carson-Newman and Mount Olive tied for fourth place with 864.  North Greenville was sixth with 866, followed by Coker (866), Queens (867), Wingate (870), Flagler (871), Belmont Abbey (877), Southern Wesleyan (883), King (884), Catawba (902), Cape Fear (903), Tusculum (920) and Shorter (971).

Whinery's final round included four bogeys and 14 pars.  Anthony Bolden posted 73-78-79=230 to tie for 71st place.  Brandon Alexander went 81-73-78=232 to place 76th.  The duo of Liam Sweeney (79-76-87=242) and Bennett Noe (86-76-80=242) tied for 87th.

Tusculum returns to action Mar. 5-6 as they travel to Salisbury, North Carolina for the Richard Rendleman Invitational.
