Tusculum tied for second after day one of Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team opened the fall portion of its 2011-12 schedule at the two-day Anderson University Invitational at Cobb's Glen Country Club Monday afternoon.

The Pioneers shot 295 as a team to stand in a tie for second place with Lenoir-Rhyne, six shots behind front-running Erskine in the nine-team field.

Justin Harvey led the way for the Pioneers with a two-under-par round of 70, placing him in a three-way tie for second place behind individual leader Brad Thorne of Erskine. Nick York carded an even-par 72 and is tied for fifth.

Also competing for the Pioneers are Dakota Norton, who shot a 76 and is tied for 19th place, Derek Cantrell, who shot 36 on the back nine to card a 77 and wrap up the round in a tie for 21st place, and David Talley whose score of 78 leaves him tied for 24th place.

The final round gets underway with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
