DALLAS --- Tusculum University forward Caleb Hodnett has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud NCAA Division II Academic All-District 3 Men's Basketball first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hodnett advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with the winners being announced in March. The Academic All-District 3 team is selected from nominees representing all colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and Peach Belt Conference.
Hodnett, a junior from Adolphus, Kentucky, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.73 while majoring in business with a minor in biology. He is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.
Hodnett leads the Pioneers averaging 6.6 rebounds per game which is currently ranked seventh in the South Atlantic Conference. He also leads Tusculum in field goal percentage shooting 56.7 percent from the floor which is also seventh in the league. He is fourth on the team in scoring posting 11 points per game including 19.4 points per contest this month.
He posted back-to-back double-doubles in Tusculum wins against Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne earlier this month, earning him AstroTurf SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors. He has also been tabbed as the Zaxby's Male Athlete of the Week on three occasions this academic year.
The Pioneers (13-12, 9-8 SAC) have a three-game winning streak and have won four of its last five games.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
