Mike Klein joined the Tusculum coaching staff in 2016. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2018 and will continue to mentor TU's linebacker corps.

In his first season at Tusculum, he coached the TC bandit outside linebackers and defensive tackles in 2016.

Before coming to Greeneville, Klein served as defensive coordinator at his prep alma mater New Smyrna Beach High School.  He helped orchestrate an amazing turnaround as the team posted a 6-4 record following a 2-8 campaign.  Five student-athletes on his defense have advanced to the collegiate level.

Klein was a four-year starting linebacker at Jacksonville University where he was mentored by current TC head coach Jerry Odom.  Klein helped the Dolphins to a pair of Pioneer Football League championships while earning All-PFL honors on two occasions.

In 2014, he recorded 29 tackles, including 13 solo stops with a pair of interceptions.  He preceded that by garnering All-PFL second team accolades as he led the team with 76 tackles (16th in PFL).  His 2013 tackle tally was the most by a JU linebacker since 2009.  He added seven tackles for loss, three pass break-ups, forced a fumble and recovered another.

He finished his collegiate career with 170 tackles, including 90 solo hits and 80 assists.

The New Smyrna Beach, Florida native graduated from Jacksonville in 2014 with a degree in economics and was a member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll.
