Brian Ferguson joined the Tusculum coaching staff in January of 2016 and has nearly two decades of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate and professional level. In 2017, he was promoted to the post of associate head coach and serves as TU's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

He served as co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Pioneers during the 2016 campaign.

Prior to his arrival in Greeneville, he served two seasons as an assistant coach at Jacksonville University. He brings nearly two decades of coaching experience at the high school, college and professional level to Tusculum.
 
Ferguson was the quarterbacks coach for the Dolphins in 2015 after serving as the assistant offensive line coach in 2014. Jacksonville won the Pioneer Football League championship during the 2014 season and finished with a record of 10-2 as Ferguson assisted the head coach and offensive coordinator in the multiple pro offense philosophy. He was also responsible for teaching and developing fundamental skills of the offensive line in the running and passing game.
 
Ferguson also coached for five seasons with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League, helping the team win the 2011 ArenaBowl championship and compiling a 10-4 record as interim head coach, including an appearance in ArenaBowl XXVIII, during the 2015 season. While with the Sharks, Ferguson was defensive line coach, offensive line coach, assistant head coach, special teams coordinator and director of player personnel.
 
Prior to his arrival in Jacksonville, Ferguson spent two seasons at Division II Tiffin University, where he was wide receivers coach in 2009 and running game coordinator, offensive line and running backs coach during the 2010 season. Ferguson was also the team's strength coach and was the assistant special teams coordinator.
 
Ferguson also has experience at the high school level, having spent two years as an assistant at Bartram Trail High School near Jacksonville (2007-08) and two years at East Lake High School near Tampa (2003-04). 
 
Ferguson was a strength coach assistant with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League in both 2005 and 2008, with responsibilities for assisting the strength and conditioning coach in all areas of the program, both in the weight room and through drills. Ferguson was also assistant strength coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
 
He also spent three seasons (2001-03) as assistant coach and strength coach with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe, helping the franchise to back-to-back appearances in the World Bowl. Under his tutelage, the Fire had the league's top rushing offense in 2002 and ranked second in both 2001 and 2003.
 
Ferguson participated in training camp with the Jaguars in 2003 and 2004 and the Buccaneers in 1999 and 2002, and was a head coach for the College All-Star National Bowl in 2014. He also was a volunteer strength coach at the University of South Florida in 2001 and was an assistant for the Florida High School Shrine All-Star Bowl in 2008.
 
Ferguson has been involved with Project Alaska Turf, which was a fundraiser to build a turf football field at Barrow High School in order to reduce high rates of teen suicide, dropout and drug usage. He was also one of six coaches selected to participate in the Band of Brothers Training Camp at Barrow, which was designed to help the coaches and players succeed in life on and off the football field.
 
Ferguson is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado and played three years at Adams State University before earning a bachelor of science degree from the University of Northern Colorado with an emphasis in exercise sports science. Ferguson later earned a master of arts in human performance physical education at Adams State, with an emphasis in coaching. He is a USA Weight Lifting Sports Performance Coach and a USA Track and Field Level 1 Coach.

Brian and his wife Mary Beth Ferguson are the proud parents of five children: Blayne, Bryce, Brynn, Brock and Bristol.
