Corey Cantrell has served on the Tusculum University football coaching staff since 2018.  He was a graduate assistant coach in 2018 and was promoted to the full-time staff in 2019.  He is responsible for the TU tight ends and also serves as the program’s equipment coordinator.

Cantrell, a two-time Tusculum graduate, was most recently a graduate assistant with the program. He assisted with the tight ends, offensive line, defensive line, equipment, video coordination, and travel planning. Between July 2018 and May 2019, Cantrell independently ran the tight end meeting room and individual periods and drills with the defensive line. He also managed all practice and game day equipment use for players and coaches, and assisted with video uploading and breakdowns.

In the first half of 2018, Cantrell was the assistant strength and conditioning coordinator for the Pioneer football program where he facilitated off-season workout programs for every position on the team.

As a student assistant tight end and half back coach, Cantrell reinforced the techniques and fundamentals of the run game, pass protections, and route running. He partook in offensive game-planning and film editing, while supporting the run game coordinator.

Outside of Tusculum, for two summers, Cantrell was a volunteer assistant offensive line and tight end coach at White House High School, just outside of Nashville. He also volunteered as a wrestling coach for the Patriots and had three state finalists.

A seven-time Athletic Director’s Honor Roll member, Cantrell graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in biology with a minor in environmental science in May 2018. He continued his education with a master’s degree in talent development, also at Tusculum, in May 2019.

As a player for the Pioneers, Cantrell appeared in eight games in his first two seasons at offensive center. He started four games as a junior at tight end before a season-ending injury.
