GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The first week of fall camp for the Tusculum University football team is coming to a close. The Pioneers had a light day on Wednesday practicing for 90 minutes at the TU Football Practice Complex.

The practice focused mainly on special teams, technique drills and had very little contact to give the Pioneers some rest before heading into Thursday's practice which promises to be another physical and intense one.

The team will have the day off on Friday, but will be volunteering to assist with move-in day for a bulk of the residential campus. This is an annual event for the Pioneers as they assist in helping their fellow classmates move in preparation of orientation weekend and the start of classes on Monday.

The Pioneers will return to practice on Saturday and Sunday before Monday's off day and focus on the start of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Sunday will also be the team's Photo and Media Day which will begin at 3 p.m. at Pioneer Field.

Tusculum opens the 2019 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 5 when the Pioneers travel to Cleveland, Mississippi to face Delta State University. It will be the second meeting between TU and the Statesmen and the first encounter since Nov. 22, 2008 in the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Former Tusculum assistant coach and defensive coordinator Pete Golding (2007-2009), came to Tusculum from Delta State where he served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater and later returned to DSU to serve in the same role. At present, Golding is entering his second season on the coaching staff at the University of Alabama and first as the Crimson Tide's defensive coordinator.
