GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Day three is in the books for the Tusculum University football team as the Pioneers held their first physical practice session of fall camp.

The Tusculum players donned shoulder pads for the first time this fall, while the coaching staff continued to implement the team playbook, while continuing the development and acclimation of the newcomers to the TU roster.

"We had a very competitive practice today," said head coach Jerry Odom. It was a physical session and there was a lot of high energy which was good to see for just the third practice of camp. Our offense made positive strides today, especially on the line and in the running game."

The offensive front returns a strong nucleus from last year's club, led by 2018 All-Region tackle Keveon Broadwater. Several of the linemen showed promise, especially 6-5, 338-pound freshman Christian Coulter, along with tight ends Tyron Hundley and Dexter Hunt.

On defense, several newcomers at the cornerback position got a baptism by fire during Sunday's practice and got a lot of valuable experience against the first and second team receivers including sophomore wideout Tory Ponder, who also shined.

"We have a lot of work to do and a way to go before we get to where we want to be," Odom added. "We will continue to watch film as our staff and players have more opportunities to get better."

The Pioneers will be in helmet and shoulder pads again on Monday before going in full gear on Tuesday.  Classes begin on Monday, August 19 with the kick off of the 2019 season coming up on Thursday, September 5 at Delta State University.
