ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University free safety Malik Goodman has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Goodman, junior from Jacksonville, Fla., helped guide the Pioneers to a 31-28 win over Mars Hill last week. He recorded eight total tackles, including five solo tackles in the win. Goodman forced one of Mars Hill's three turnovers and recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.
He and the TU defense held the league's top receiver Craig Rucker to just 34 receiving yards and zero TD receptions during the game.
Tusculum (3-2, 2-1 SAC) returns to Pioneer Field this Saturday when they host Newberry for homecoming. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
