NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College linebacker L'Keith Brown has been named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association Defensive College Football Player of the Week announced TSWA officials Tuesday.
Brown, a 6-2, 210-pound junior from Athens, Georgia, led the Tusculum defense with 13 tackles, including four for loss, one sack and a quarterback hurry in TC's 21-14 South Atlantic Conference win over Brevard College last Saturday. The Pioneer defense limited the Tornados to only 163 total yards and did not allow a pass completion for the entire game.
Brown currently leads the league with his four sacks and is fourth in total tackles with 49 stops. The 2014 SAC Defensive Freshman of the Year has also posted a team-high 13 tackles for loss which are already the 10th most in a TC season.
In last Saturday's game, Brown recorded his 200th career tackle at Tusculum. He has posted 202 tackles in this 26-game career, making him one of only 19 student-athletes in program history to achieve the milestone.
Tusculum (1-4, 1-2 SAC) returns to action on Saturday as the Pioneers travel to Wingate University for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
