ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College punt returner Evan Altizer has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Football Player of the Week.
Altizer, a junior from Weddington, North Carolina, averaged 22.3 yards on his three punt returns in Tusculum's 21-14 win over Brevard on Saturday. He finished the contest with 67 punt return yards as he posted returns of 20, 21, and 26 yards. His 21-yard return to the BC 37 set up the game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter. He followed that effort with a 26-yard return to the BC 41 to set the table for the game-winning score late in the game.
Altizer is averaging 11.6 yards per punt return this season, which is tops in the conference and 36th in the nation (NCAA Division II).
Tusculum (1-4, 1-2 SAC) returns to action this Saturday as they travel to Wingate University for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
