Former Tusculum College infielder Nick Rodriguez is beginning his second year on the Pioneer coaching staff.

Rodriguez, a native of Miami, Florida, assists with all aspects of the Tusculum baseball program including strength & conditioning, hitting, infielders and film study.

Rodriguez posted a .283 career batting average with the Pioneers in his 113-game career. Tusculum accounted for an impressive 145-68 (.681) overall record, including 74-39 in the South Atlantic Conference.

He helped guide the 2016 Pioneers to a 38-18 overall record, a second place regular-season finish in the SAC, a SAC Tournament co-championship and a berth into the NCAA II Tournament.

In his first Tusculum campaign, the Pioneers won its first 15 games en route to a 48-10 worksheet, which included the SAC regular-season and tournament titles. TC also earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament where the Pioneers finished third in the Southeast Regional and ended the year with a No. 9 national ranking.

In his junior year, he finished fourth on the team with a .311 batting average and accounted for 38 hits, including nine doubles and 24 RBI.  He led the team with eighth stolen bases and finished second on the roster with 85 fielding assists.

He played his prep career at American High School in Miami where he garnered All-Dade County Team accolades on two occasions and batted over .425 in his final junior and senior seasons.

Rodriguez was an outstanding student as well as he earned spots on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Dean's List, while majoring in sport management. He earned his master's degree from Tusculum in December 2016.
