Reed Gray joined the TU baseball staff as a graduate assistant just before the start of the 2019 academic year. Gray will primarily be responsible for the catchers and hitters.

He comes from Belmont Abbey where he was a volunteer assistant coach and assistant JV coach for the Crusader baseball team. Gray served the program as the catching coach while also assisting with the offense. He was responsible for recruitment, field maintenance, and aiding in the practice plans. 

In the fall of 2017, Gray was a graduate assistant at Gardner-Webb University in the sports information department and was the primary contact for men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, swimming, and softball.

A 2017 summa cum laude graduate of Lander University, Gray was a four year member of the baseball squad. He completed his mass communication degree with a minor in public relations. He was a member of two College World Series teams as a catcher and designated hitter. With a team-leading .343 batting average his senior season, Gray also had the highest on-base percentage (.478) and hit by pitches (19). He was a two-time academic award recipient for the team, a Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team honoree in 2016, and a nominee for the 2016 NCAA Division II Elite 89 Award. Gray was the recipient of the 2017 Lander University Dr. Boyce M. Grier Award, which is given to the student-athlete who best exemplifies sportsmanship, integrity, pride in the university, and a positive attitude.
