Baseball opener suspended due to rain

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --- Following three-and-half innings of baseball and a lengthy rain delay, Friday night's season-opener between Tusculum and Palm Beach Atlantic has been suspended due to inclement weather.

When play was stopped, the host Sailfish led 4-0 in the middle of the fourth inning. The status of this game will be updated later this weekend.

The Pioneers will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Fort Lauderdale and take on 16th-ranked Nova Southeastern at 4 p.m.

The Sailfish opened the game scoring all four runs in the bottom of the first inning thanks to six hits including a two-run single by Papageorge and a RBI triple from Smith as PGA sent eight batters to the plate.

Palm Beach Atlantic has nine total hits in the game, while Tusculum has recorded four hits so far including singles by Fuzzy Furr, Luis Ezra, Jaden Steagall and Jake Wapinksy.
