INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum University's Daulton Martin continues to lead the nation in both doubles and bases on balls according to this week's NCAA Division II baseball statistics.
Martin is listed in six statistical categories while pitcher Charles Hall is mentioned four times. As a team, Tusculum is listed in the top-50 on 10 occasions.
Martin, a junior from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, leads the country with his 22 doubles as well as his 47 walks. He is also ninth in runs scored (52), 10th in on-base percentage (.535), 20th in total bases (106) and 31st in runs batted in (44).
Hall, a senior from Dumfries, Virginia, is once again the national leader in strikeouts with 128. He is 29th in earned run average (1.93), 46th in pitching victories (6) and 50th in WHIP (1.04). Earlier this season, Hall established a new NCAA Division II record with his 22 strikeouts against Queens University of Charlotte.
Tusculum sophomore Trey Hinton (Knoxville, Tenn.) leads Division II averaging 1.22 walks per game, while his 44 total walks are third in the land.
Sophomore infielder Bryson Ford is listed 13th in the country in stolen bases where he has gone 24-of-26 this year. His 24 stolen bases are tied for the third-most in school history and the most since Maikol Gonzalez stole a school-record 30 bases in 2008. Ford (Knoxville, Tenn.) is also 28th in runs scored (46), 39th in RBI (43) and 46th in walks (29).
Senior outfielder Jarel McDade (Magnolia, Texas) is tied for 31st in the country with his 44 RBI while senior outfielder Seth DeHaven (Fort Myers, Fla.) is 42nd with his six sacrifice bunts.
As a team, Tusculum has recorded 247 walks which are the most in the South Atlantic Conference and second in the nation. TU is also sixth in the country in hit by pitch (71), eighth in runs scored (346), eighth in strikeouts per nine innings pitched (10.6), 10th in stolen bases (94), 17th in hits (421), 17th in doubles (89), 25th in on-base percentage (.413), 29th in sacrifice flies (22) and 34th in shutouts (3).
Following Tuesday's home game with Lee University, the Pioneers (27-18, 14-7 SAC) will close out the regular season this weekend with a three-game SAC series against Lenoir-Rhyne University. It is also Senior Weekend at Pioneer Park.
