No. 12 Sharks use big first inning in 12-2 win over Tusculum

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. --- Andrew Labosky went 5-for-6 with three RBI to lead the 12th-ranked Nova Southeastern baseball team to a 12-2 win over Tusculum Friday night at the NSU Baseball Complex.

The Sharks (2-0) belted out 13 hits on the night including six in a seven-run first inning.  Labosky accounted for two singles in the opening frame, including his two-run single in his second time to the plate.

Eight of the nine NSU starters finished with at least a hit, while starting pitcher Derik Beauprez (1-0) went the first six innings and allowed three hits, one run, one walk and posted seven strikeouts.

Tusculum starter Justin Massey (0-1) didn't last the first inning as allowed five hits, seven runs, two earned and walked three in his 2/3 of an inning of work.

The Sharks plated two more runs in the third and had one-run frames in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings.

Tusculum's Garrett Dupuis drove in TC's first run of the game with a double in the fourth inning.  TC later plated an unearned run in the seventh.

The Pioneers (0-2) continue their Florida road trip on Saturday when they travel to Palm Beach Atlantic for a 4 p.m. contest.
