WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team went 2-0 on the final day of the Palm Beach Atlantic tournament.
Tusculum (13-8) hosts Gaston on Tuesday, March 26 for a noon doubleheader.
Match 1: Tusculum 4, Eckerd 1
The Pioneers started the day by taking four-of-five from the Tritons. The first and third flights needed the minimum two sets, but remaining two pairings required a decisive third frame.
At No. 1, Morgan Browne and Olivia Browne swept by scores of 21-14, 21-9.
As the 3's, Katie McLamb and Charlyn Miller tallied a 21-5, 21-10 decision.
Diana Bierwagen and Riley Rushing stepped in as the fourth flight, winning by the narrowest 21-19, 19-21, 15-13 margins.
Katie Murphy and Morgan Willis held on for a 21-13, 16-21, 17-15 victory.
The lone loss was at No. 2 with Kyla Oppenhuis and Brynn Smith by scores of 21-18, 21-14.
Match 2: Tusculum 4, Spring Hill 1
The Pioneers repeated the day's earlier result, winning in the same flights.
The Brownes won the top flight by identical 21-16, 21-16 scores.
McLamb and Miller claimed a 21-13, 21-12 decision.
At No. 4, Bierwagen and Rushing tallied a 22-20, 21-17 in their second match of the day.
Willis and Murphy rallied for a 12-21, 21-15, 15-13 at the last flight.
The 2's of Oppenhuis and Smith took the loss for TU by scores of 21-14, 21-16.
