Pioneers Downed by Tritons

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. --- The Tusculum University beach volleyball team stumbled in both matches against the Eckerd College Tritons by identical finals of 4-1. The No. 3 pairing of Haley Davis and Stephanie Cho were responsible for both wins on the afternoon and are now 6-2 on the season as a tandem.

The Pioneers head to Saint Leo on Thursday (March 12) for a tri-match featuring the host Lions and the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish. First serve on the sand is scheduled for 1 p.m.

In the opening match, Davis and Cho won by scores of 21-14, 21-19. Melissa Mazur and Emma Johnson took the No. 1 flight to three sets, ultimately losing 15-9 in the final frame.

Match two saw Davis and Cho win again after an Eckerd injury forced the Triton pair to retire with the Pioneers up in the first set 11-3. Every other flight was competitive, but Tusculum fell in straight sets in all of them.
