Nick Coyle was named to the Tusculum athletic training staff on August 1, 2018.  He is responsible for the athletic training needs for the sports of women's lacrosse and the assistant with football.

His duties also include serving as a clinical preceptor for Tusculum's athletic training students.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, he came to Tusculum after serving as a seasonal athletic trainer with the Atlanta Falcons during the 2017 season.  He assisted with practice and game preparations, post-practice and game duties, daily treatment and injury rehabilitation.

The past two summers (2017, 2018), he has also served as an athletic trainer with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps, a nonprofit youth performing arts education organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. The primary objective of Spirit of Atlanta is to provide challenging, high-quality programs for youth through a positive environment that emphasizes character and social development, leadership, self-discipline, and the pursuit of excellence. Coyle provided medical coverage for the performing arts group consisting of 150 members and 50 staff.

In 2017, he served an athletic training internship with the Rome Braves baseball team, the Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

He has also worked as an athletic training fellow with the Hughston Clinic & Foundation where he served as the assistant athletic trainer at Central High School in Phoenix City, Alabama working primarily with the sports of football, basketball and soccer.  His fellowship also included work with the Columbus (Ga.) Cottonmouths professional hockey team.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Graceland University in athletic training in 2016.  As an athletic training student at Graceland, he worked with the sports of men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, cheer, dance, track, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's volleyball.  In 2016, he was named Graceland's Student Athletic Trainer of the Year.

During the seasons of 2011 and 2012, Coyle also served a student internship with the NBA Development team, the Iowa Energy.

He earned his master's degree in physical education with an emphasis in exercise science from the University of North Georgia in 2018. 

He is certified through the Board of Certification (BOC) and is a licensed athletic trainer in the State of Tennessee and in the State of Georgia.

He is a member of the National Athletic Training Association (NATA), Georgia Athletic Trainers Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers Association and the Mountain Athletic Training Society.  He is certified with the American Heart Association CPR/AED for the Pro-Rescuer and is First Aid certified.  He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
