Akinpetide, Hansen named Zaxby's Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University tennis players David Akinpetide and Emilie Hansen have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.

Akinpetide earned wins in both singles and doubles as the Pioneers opened their dual-meet schedule with a 5-2 victory at King on Wednesday. In doubles, the Chelles, France native teamed with Yago Fernandez for a 6-0 win at flight two, then picked up the clinching point in singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at flight four.

Hansen opened her Pioneer career with singles and doubles victories as the Pioneers beat King 7-0 in their season opener on Wednesday. The Hvidovre, Denmark native won 6-0 at flight three doubles while playing with Amber Lackey, then earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at flight one singles to help the Pioneers finish off the sweep.

The Tusculum University Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Zaxby's, located at 3280 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville.  The Zaxby's Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
