Loggins selected for NCAA Pathway Program

INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum University associate athletic director Randy Loggins has been selected to participate in the NCAA Pathway Program.

Loggins is one of just 23 senior-level college athletic administrators from all three NCAA divisions selected to participate in the yearlong intensive experiential learning opportunity.

For Loggins and his fellow senior-level athletics administrators who participate, the NCAA Pathway Program provides an outstanding opportunity to gain insight into every facet of an athletics department, preparing them to become well-rounded leaders who are equipped with the tools an effective athletics director needs. Each program participant is mentored by a current NCAA athletics director and a current university chancellor or president who have committed to helping the Pathway participants grow during the program and after completing it.

"I am very proud of Randy for being a part of the NCAA Pathway Program," said Doug Jones, Tusculum Vice President for Student Success and Athletics. "This outstanding program will allow Randy to continue to grow as a professional in our field.  Randy works hard to not only make our department better but our entire institution. He is a true Pioneer."

Loggins began the program with a weeklong session at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis this past week, and will continue with quarterly meetings throughout the year, culminating next summer at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics convention.

"I am grateful to be able to participate in the NCAA Pathway Program. This program pushes you outside of your comfort zone and challenges you to be the best. I am grateful to be surrounded by fantastic administrators that understand the field of athletics and pushes you to be the best you can be, but also supports you along the way," said Loggins.

These in-person sessions will include opportunities to engage with university and college presidents, who will shed light on the role of athletics directors, reinforce the value of athletics on campus and provide candid answers to participants' questions. Along with NCAA governance meetings, program participants will participate in a simulation of their first staff meeting as a director of athletics, receive advice on beginning their first 90 days in an athletics director chair, participate in case studies on campus-relevant topics and learn best practices from current and former athletics directors.

"I'm grateful to Doug Jones and Tusculum University for allowing me this wonderful opportunity," Loggins stated.  "Tusculum is a special place for me and my family and I'm very proud of the coaches, support staff and student-athletes that I get to work with each and every day."

"I would also like to thank the NCAA Professional Development team for putting on such a great program in Indianapolis," Loggins added. "The reason we get into the profession is to provide our student-athletes the best opportunity to be successful academically and in their chosen sport."

Loggins is entering his 10th year as Associate Athletic Director for Operations at Tusculum serves as the business manager for the athletic department, overseeing the budgets for all 21 sponsored sports of the University. He assists with NCAA compliance, game-day operations, promotions and ticket sales.

Loggins came to the Greeneville campus in 2003 as a member of the Pioneer football team. The Stockton, California native lettered two seasons on the offensive line, including during TU's 2003 South Atlantic Conference Championship campaign. The Pioneers posted a combined 15-6 record during his two Tusculum seasons.

In 2005, he served as a student assistant football coach where he assisted with the defensive backs.

He earned his Bachelor's degree from Tusculum in 2006 while majoring in mass media. He later earned his Masters of Science degree from Western Kentucky University in 2016 with a concentration in intercollegiate athletic administration.

Loggins has served on several campus committees, including advisor for the Pioneer Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Pioneers Preparing for Life, Community Standards Board, Administrative Process Improvement Team (APIT), Space Utilization Committee, Professionalism for Leadership Co-Curricular Team, University's Quality Enhancement Plan, and Community Standards Board. He is also a member of the Greene County Partnership Sports Council, board member of the Greene County YMCA and Board of Trustees Co-Chair at Asbury Methodist Church.

At the NCAA level he has served on the NCAA Division II Regional Baseball Committee and the NCAA Division II Regional Football Committee, NCAA/ADA Mentoring program and the NCAA Leadership Institute (2016-17).

Loggins is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC), Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA) and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA).
