GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum lacrosse midfielder Ethan Bohannon and tennis standout Angelica De Vincenzis have been named the Bojangles Athletes of the Week.
Bohannon, a freshman from Marietta, Georgia, set a program single-game record with 28 faceoff wins and 24 ground balls as the Pioneers lost 17-13 to Coker Friday night. Bohannon's 24 ground balls are the third-most in a game in NCAA Division II since becoming an official stat in 2014, while his 26 faceoff wins (in 31 attempts) are tied for the third most in Division II this season and tied for 12th in the Division II record books since 2010. He broke the school-single game records of 17 ground balls and 22 faceoff wins set by Alexander Kleinberg against North Greenville on April 7, 2015.
Bohannon ranks sixth in the SAC in both ground balls with 50 and faceoff wins with 90, and has won at least 60 percent of the faceoffs in four of the Pioneers' 10 contests. On offense, Bohannon has contributed three goals in six shot attempts.
De Vincenzis rallied from a set down to win at No. 5 singles as the Pioneers remained unbeaten with a 5-4 come-from-behind win over 37th-ranked Queens on Sunday afternoon. Playing in the decisive match against the Royals' Isabel Fornies, De Vincenzis lost the first set 7-5 before coming back to tie the match at a set apiece with a 6-3 win. The freshman from Montebelluna, Italy then fell behind 3-0 and 4-3 in the third and final set before winning the final three games to clinch the victory.
De Vincenzis has a 12-1 singles record for the Pioneers this season, including a 5-1 record in South Atlantic Conference matches, and is 3-0 in matches that go to a third set or tiebreaker.
The Tusculum College Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Bojangles, located at 3240 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville. The Bojangles Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
