GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum baseball designated hitter Colby Skeen and softball pitcher Lizzy Galloway have been named the Bojangles Athletes of the Week.
Skeen, a senior from Powell, Tennessee, batted .556 on the week with nine RBI as the Pioneers posted a 3-2 record on the week, including 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference play. He opened the week going 1-for-2 with two RBI against Winston-Salem State. He batted 4-of-7 with seven RBI including a grand slam in Tusculum's twin bill sweep over Anderson. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the opener and followed with two more hits with five RBI as the Pioneers have won three of their last four games.
In his 19 games this season, Skeen is batting .319 with 10 runs scored and 13 RBI.
Galloway, a sophomore from Troy, Alabama, allowed just one hit in 6 2/3 innings spanning two appearances, earning a save in the Pioneers' 9-3 win over Mars Hill on Thursday by retiring all five batters she faced. On Saturday, Galloway entered in the bottom of the second inning in game two against Coker and threw five scoreless innings, allowing just an infield single and one walk while striking out two.
In 11 appearances this season, the lefthander has pitched to a team-best 2.37 earned run average while striking out eight batters in 23 2/3 innings. She has not allowed an earned run in her last 10 2/3 innings of work, giving up just four hits and striking out four over that span.
