Hartle, Johnson named Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum basketball players Zach Hartle and Kasey Johnson have been named the Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month for November.

Hartle, a junior forward from King, North Carolina, averaged 10.9 points per game during month, including 17.7 ppg in his last three contests.  He averaged three 3-pointers made per game for November and shot 21-of-33 from beyond the arc for 63.6 percent, which was the second best average in NCAA Division II during the month.

He opened the season with 11 points and seven rebounds against King and later followed with a career-high 19 markers versus Lee University. In that game, he shot 6-of-10 from the floor, including five treys.  He followed with a team-high 18 points on his six 3-pointers, including the game-winner with 22 seconds left in TC's 86-85 win over Columbus State.  He closed out the month with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting (4-of-5 3FG) against fourth-ranked Lincoln Memorial.

For November, he totaled 17 rebounds (2.4 rpg), nine assists (1.3 apg) and four steals (0.6 spg)

Johnson, a junior forward from Greensboro, North Carolina, helped the Pioneers to a 6-1 record in November, sharing the team lead in scoring at 12.0 points per game. She also tied for the team lead in assists per game (2.6 apg) and blocked shots per game (0.7 bpg) and was third on the squad in rebounding at 5.9 boards per contest.

Johnson scored in double figures in five of the Pioneers' seven games in November, scoring 15 points on three different occasions. She also made at least one 3-pointer in six games, and also had at least one steal in six of the Pioneers' seven contests. Johnson had a season-high nine rebounds in a season-opening 89-71 win over Converse. Johnson also had 15 points and six rebounds in a 78-41 win at Bluefield State and tallied 12 points and eight rebounds in the Pioneers' 83-59 victory over North Greenville.
