Ogle, Murphy named Bojangles Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum quarterback Alex Ogle and volleyball setter Shannon Murphy have been named the Bojangles Athletes of the Week.                                                      

Ogle, junior from Hobe Sound, Florida, accounted for three touchdowns in leading the Pioneers to a 31-10 road win over UNC Pembroke on Saturday.  He passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another as he went 14-of-25 for 198 passing yards.  His two TD passes covered 33 and 56 yards, while his one-yard touchdown run came on fourth and goal for his first touchdown at Tusculum.  He is second in the league averaging 214.8 passing yards per game.                        

Murphy averaged 8.36 assists and 3.29 digs per set in leading Tusculum to a 2-1 record last week in South Atlantic Conference play. 

Murphy opened the week with 39 assists and 16 digs in Tusculum's 3-1 win against Mars Hill. She added three service aces along with six blocks.  TC took undefeated Wingate to a fifth-set before falling 3-2 to the Bulldogs. Murphy dished out 36 assists with 16 digs, two blocks, three kills and two blocks.  Murphy contributed 42 assists, 14 digs, six kills, two aces and a .500 hitting percentage in a 3-2 win over Queens.

The Tinley Park, Illinois senior posted a double-double in all three matches to give her a team-best nine on the year.
