GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College basketball standouts Kendall Patterson and Kasey Johnson have been named the Bojangles Athletes of the Week. The Tusculum duo each earns their third respective Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Fagan, a senior guard from Burlington, North Carolina, averaged a team-high 16.3 points per game in Tusculum's three contests. He tallied 16 points, six assists and four steals in last Monday's 81-77 loss at Bluefield State. He bounced back with 21 points and seven assists in Tusculum's 85-70 SAC win over Brevard on Wednesday. He closed out the week with a dozen markers, four helpers and five steals in Saturday's league setback at Wingate.
Fagan opened the week by pouring in a team-high 20 points in Wednesday's home loss to defending NCAA Division II national runner-up Lincoln Memorial. He shot 8-of-12 from the floor and went 3-of-5 from the free throw line, marking his second straight 20-point plus outing and fourth of the year. He also hauled in three rebounds and dished out three assists against the Railsplitters. He followed that effort with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting in Saturday's road loss at Catawba.
During the week, Patterson shot 51.2 percent from the floor while averaging 5.6 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game. On the season, he leads the team in scoring (16.0 ppg), assists (5.5 apg) and steals (2.4 spg). He is 10th in the conference in scoring and is first and second in the league in assists and steals, respectively.
Johnson, a sophomore forward from Greensboro, North Carolina, averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game in leading the Pioneers to a 1-1 split last week. Johnson scored 25 points and hauled in a career-high 13 rebounds in TC's 81-71 double-overtime win over Brevard. All 25 of her points came after halftime as the Pioneers rallied from an 11-point deficit.
In Saturday's loss at Wingate, Johnson led TC with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting while also recording a team-high five blocked shots against the Bulldogs.
Johnson is ranked in the SAC's top-10 in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Her team-best 15.1 points per game average is eighth in the league, while her TC-best 7.4 rebounds per game average is seventh. She is also averaging 1.8 blocked shots per game, which is currently third in the conference.
