De Giorgi, Rattana named Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month for October

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College forward Andre De Giorgi and women's golfer Ciara Rattana have been named the Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month for October.

De Giorgi scored seven goals in eight matches during October as the Pioneers secured the No. 2 seed in the SAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. De Giorgi opened the month with a pair of goals in a 3-0 victory over Newberry on Oct. 2, then registered a pair of second-half goals in a 4-1 win over Brevard on Oct. 12.

The native of Lisbon, Portugal then scored goals in a 2-1 victory over Mars Hill on Oct. 14 and a 2-1 overtime loss at Carson-Newman on Oct. 19, before closing the month with a goal in a 2-0 win at Coker on Oct. 25. De Giorgi, a first-team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree, ranks second in the SAC with 13 goals and 27 points this season, with nine of his 13 goals coming in conference matches.

Rattana, a junior from Western Springs, Illinois, recorded a 74.00 stroke average in her seven rounds during the month and finished third or better in her three events.  The two-time All-SAC first team selection shot 73-75=148 to tie for third place honors at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate.  She followed by tying for second place at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational. In that event, she posted 72-74=146.  She posted a 36-hole low 145 at the Flagler Fall Slam where she posted her second straight runner-up performance.  She carded a two-under par 70 in the opening round and followed with a 75 in the final 18 holes.

Rattana has a 75.17 scoring average this season, which is tops on the team.  She has also posted five top-5 performances in five of her six tournaments this fall.
